1 killed in Ft Hood training accident

FORT HOOD, TX - One soldier has been killed in a training accident on Fort Hood.

A statement released by a Fort Hood spokesman says the accident occurred about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday as a 1st Infantry  Division HH-60M helicopter crew was conducting medical evacuation hoist training.

The accident occurred on a Fort Hood range south or Robert Gray Army Airfield and involved soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley, Kansas.

The name of the victim was being withheld Wednesday pending notification of next of kin.

Details of the accident are being investigated.

Fort Hood is expected to release more information tomorrow.
