2 charged in burglaries in 3 counties

GATESVILLE, TX - Coryell County Sheriff Scott Williams says well over $100,000 worth of stolen goods have been recovered from burglaries committed in Coryell, Bell and Bosque counties and two people are in custody following an investigation that involved multiple agencies.

Thirty-five-year-old Billy Tate Shoaf and 23-year-old Ashley Nicole Mitchell were booked into the Coryell County Jail after search warrants were served at a home and a storage facility.

Members of the Coryell County Sheriff's Office including Sheriff Williams, Chief Deputy Mark WIlcox along with Central Texas Cattle Ranger Marvin Wells had gone to a home at 110 Old Waco Street to serve an arrest warrant.

While there, they spotted a number of items in plain view that were suspected as having been taken in burglaries.

The scene was secured and a search warrant obtained and numerous items were recovered connected to burglaries in the three county area.

Evidence recovered there and information from other citizens led to them obtaining a second search warrant for a storage unit leased by Shoaf that led to the recovery of even more property, with value estimated at up to $150,000.

While the pair is being held, the investigation is expected to generate warrants for further charges.
