WHITNEY, TX - Whitney police report five children were removed from a home and placed in the custody of Child Protective Services following a Friday search warrant execution and the arrest of two people in Whitney.
Whitney police working with the Texas Department of Child Protective Services and the Texas State Park Police of Whitney served the warrant in the West 600 block of Brazos Street.
The search warrant had been issued by 66th District Court Judge Matt Crane for the search and seizure of narcotics.
During the search, about 70 grams of methamphetamine, an undetermined amount of marijuana and a quantity of supplies frequently used in distribution of the materials were recovered, including different size baggies and scales.
Arrested were 25-year-old Detrick Darnell Walter charged with possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substance in Penalty Group 1 and 36-year-old Leonotdra Garrett, charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance.
The children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services.
The children ranged in age from three years up through high school.
