BELL COUNTY, Texas - You'll be seeing a piece of Central Texas on Comedy Central later this month.
The Bell County Jail partnered with Ali Siddiq last September, who was incarcerated for drug dealing when he was 19 years old. He has since turned his life around to spread laughs.
The Sheriff's Office says they accepted the show to boost morale for the inmates.
"We want to try and build on their stay here," says jail administrator Captain Byron Shelton. "We'd like to turn them completely around. We know we can't do that, but we do like to let them know that they are human beings. And that's how we want to treat them. And like I said, laughter. Everyone needs laughter."
Comedy Central took care of all the expenses, meaning taxpayers won't have to foot the bill.
The show will air on February 23 at 11:00 p.m. eastern time.
