COPPERAS COVE, TX - Four people face prostitution charges after a Copperas Cove massage parlor raid.
Police said they have been investigating Great Massage on Business Highway 190 for months. Shareef Barnett, Kelvin Scott, Xiuyun John and Shun John are all allegedly tied to the crime.
"Two were arrested for prostitution, then we had two others that were arrested for promotion of prostitution, and one was arrested for resisting arrest," says Sgt. Kevin Miller, of the Copperas Cove Police Department.
Miller says police started their investigation after getting a tip from a concerned citizen.
"We were able to corroborate that they were acting illegally. So we got with some other divisions and other departments to go and set up an operation," Miller said.
He says Great Massage opened its doors less than a year ago.
"I went the business establishment and filled out a business contact for the establishment, so I know it was open in October. I believe it opened in late September," Miller said.
However, police said they hadn't had any problems with Great Massage until now. Nonetheless, one area business owner says the place has been trouble since it opened.
Police still aren't releasing many details on whether this was a case of human trafficking or if cameras were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
