Family of Killeen toddler found in pool celebrate his second birthday

KILLEEN, Texas - Nearly 100 friends and family gathered to celebrate Killeen toddler Caleb Icmat on what would have been his second birthday.

"You can see how many lives he really touched in just his short time here with us. He touched a lot of people," says godmother Nani Caiz.

Icmat's life was cut short after he was found unresponsive in a family backyard pool last Saturday. First-responders tried to revive him, but he later died at a local hospital.

Even in the midst of tragedy, loved ones are remembering the good times. Many sported personalized shirts to remember the toddler.

"When I did see him, he was always smiling and happy. He was a beautiful soul," Layton Collins said.

"He brought everyone together. People from different aspects that you wouldn't even think would be together. Jacob and Kylee were so lucky to have a son that was as beautiful and as bright as Caleb," says friend Daniel Galiano.

Friends and family never imagined the little boy would be gone so soon.

"We're going to get through it. All of us together. We're a big family and friends, a lot of us. We'll all look after them, and I hope someone looks after Caleb up there, too," says friend Tyrell Blaize.

Most people here have faith in knowing Caleb's in a better place.

"He was one of God's greatest creations. He just needed him home a little early, that's all," Caiz said.
