Firefighters battle warehouse fire in Bosque County

BOSQUE COUNTY, Texas - UPDATE: Investigators have identified the body found inside the burned out Salvage Carpet building on State Highway 22.

They say the individual was 41-year-old Christopher Harris, Jr. of Laguna Park.  Harris owned the building.  The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office.

Original Report:

Firefighters battled a blaze which engulfed a warehouse in Bosque County on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire happened a little before noon, near Highway 22 and FM-56.

Ranken Automotive Store Manager Michael Parker says he didn't see how the fire started, but he called the fire department as soon as it started to grow.

A spokesman for the Bosque County Emergency Management Department tells FOX44 News the building itself was the former Salvage Carpet Building.

Parker says he doesn't know what the building was used for, but he's glad they put it out before it spread.

"They did a really good job of actually containing the flames just to the building. At one point in time, it looks like it got to the pole a little bit, but they were able to get the fire out," Parker says.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
