GATESVILLE, Texas - A Gatesville High School student was caught with what authorities describe as a "prohibited weapon" on campus.
Principal Yancey Sanderson said in a note sent to parents that administration was informed at 3:35 p.m. on Wednesday. When they were notified, the school was immediately placed on lockdown.
Sanderson went on to say the student in question was located and detained by school officials. A search of the student revealed a prohibited item, but it was not a firearm.
The principal also took the time to remind parents that students are not permitted to bring prohibited items on buses or on school grounds. Students in violation of incidents like these will have consequences, according to the GISD Code of Conduct.
If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact campus officials at 254-865-8281.
