BELTON, TX - A Bell County Grand Jury has returned a murder indictment against 25-year-old Parish Dionte Young in connection with a Harker Heights homicide.
Young has remained in the Bell County Jail in lieu of $1 million bond since being arrested in the case.
Young had turned himself in after learning of the warrant being out for his arrest.
He was charged in connection with the death of of a man found lying in the middle of West Beeline Lane at South Roy Reynolds Drive.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Larry James Sterling of Killeen.
Police had been called about the shooting at 2:38 a.m. that Saturday morning.
The man was not breathing when officers arrived, so they immediately began CPR.
Harker Heights EMS continued attempted life-saving measures when they arrived moments later but the victim did not survive.
It was determined that he had been shot multiple times, including once in the neck.
Police say that Young was developed as a suspect during the investigation with Justice of the Peace Claudia Brown issuing the arrest warrant.
