Killeen pursuit ends in crash, arrest

KILLEEN, TX - Three people were injured when a driver fleeing Killeen police crashed into another car in an intersection Sunday night.

It started just after 7:30 p.m. Sunday when officers tried to make a traffic stop near the intersection of Reverand R.A. Abernathy Drive and  Taft Street.

Killeen police spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez says the driver refused to stop and the pursuit was on.

The driver led officers through the neighborhood toward Martin Luther King Boulevard, turning south on MLK going through a traffic light and hitting a Chrysler sedan at the intersection of MLK and Stan Schlueter Loop.

The driver got out of the car and tried to run away, but officers were able to chase him down and take him into custody.

He was not injured in the crash and was taken to the Killeen City Jail.

The occupants of the Chrysler were taken to Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights with non-life-threatening injuries.
