Man charged in federal complaint with robbing bank

WACO, Texas - A federal criminal complaint was filed on Tuesday charging a 22-year-old Crawford man with robbing the GENCO Federal Credit Union in March of 2018.

The man is charged with one count of bank robbery, and is currently in custody.

The complaint alleges Chad Allen Snowden forcibly robbed the GENCO Federal Credit Union located in Lorena, Texas on or around March 13. The complaint further states the defendant walked into the bank and handed a teller a note demanding money. The teller then complied and gave the defendant an undisclosed amount of money. Information from the public led investigators to Snowden.

The defendant had his initial appearance in federal court in Waco on Tuesday. He remains in federal custody pending his detention hearing before U.S. Magistrate Judge Jeffrey C. Manske, which is scheduled for June 14.

This investigation is being conducted by the Lorena Police Department and the FBI, with assistance from the Waco Police Department, Belton Police Department and the Bell County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Greg Gloff is prosecuting this case on behalf of the Government.
