Oklahoma car theft leads to arrest

SMITH COUNTY, Texas - The Smith County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Copperas Cove man after they say he assaulted an 89-year-old man and stole his car. 

Deputies were dispatched on a call of a man having "psychological issues". Upon arrival, they found 29-year-old Bruce Hicks, Jr. 

Deputies were also able to find an SUV Hicks had reportedly stolen in Oklahoma during an aggravated robbery last Tuesday. Authorities say there was 19 pounds of marijuana in the car. 

The owner, an 89-year-old man, says he was attacked when he was walking across a parking lot. Then his car was taken.  

Hicks faces multiple charges out of Oklahoma and Smith County.
