Pipeline work closes Killeen streets

KILLEEN, TX - Work on water and sewer lines will mean a few headaches for drivers in Killeen Wednesday and Thursday.

Replacement of old water lines will require digging up some streets, with the city saying the work will improve the quality of water, reduces leaks and service interruptions and improve water pressure for firefighting.

The work this week is part of a larger north side rehab project to improve water infrastructure along Veterans Memorial Boulevard from College Street to 38th.

All of the work is expected to be complete by summer.

Road closures scheduled for Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. are:

  • Veterans Memorial Boulevard, westbound outside lane from 2nd Street to Wilmer Street
  • College Street, from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Avenue G
  • Park Street, from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Avenue G

Road closures scheduled for Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. are:

  • Veterans Memorial Boulevard, westbound outside lane from Gray Street to College Street
  • Park Street, from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Avenue G
  • 2nd Street, from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Avenue G
  • 4th Street, from Veterans Memorial Boulevard to Avenue G

Traffic will be detoured around the work areas and motorists are urged to use caution and follow the signs.
