Stolen vehicle thought used in robbery

TEMPLE, TX - Temple police are looking into whether a vehicle stolen Thursday ended up on a total of three police reports in two cities.

Temple police spokesperson says it started at the Travel Lode at 4001 South General Bruce Drive where the victim told officers he had used his remote start for his 2015 black Audi Q5 SUV.

He went into a room and when he came out he saw a woman in the driver's seat and it was driven away.

The vehicle was described as having a University of Mary Hardin Baylor parking sticker on the back and a cracked windshield o  the driver's side.

It was entered in the system as stolen, with police saying it may be related to an aggravated robbery that occurred later.

That robbery was reported at 8:27 p.m. Thursday at the Temple Gym X location.

There the victim told officers he was in his truck waiting for his girlfriend when a dark colored Audi mini SUV pulled up.

Two men asked the victim if he smoked, then one got into the back seat.

He sain an Uzi type weapon was pulled out and both he and his friend were robbed of car keys and wallet.

They ran inside Gym X and called police.

Then at 7:45 a.m. Friday Temple police got a call from Belton police who advised they had located the stolen Audi and that they had arrested a person in that vehicle.

Late Friday afternoon, his identity was not available.
