WACO, Texas - Hundreds of employees and Waco city leaders attended a grand opening ceremony for the new Sherwin-Williams Distribution Facility on Thursday.
Among it's nearly 330 team members are two robot systems doing a lot of the heavy lifting - about 40 pounds per minute of buckets full of paint.
65 trailer trucks roll out to deliver three million pounds of paint product on a daily basis to 700 Sherwin-Williams paint stores across eight states.
Also, the Waco facility is 615,000 square feet - about 14 football fields - and still has room to expand.
"It's very exciting for Waco," says City Manager Wiley Stem. "We got a lot of positive things going on, but to have a company the stature of Sherwin-Williams invest $39 million in Waco, that's big. And we're really excited to have them here."
During the year, 234 Sherwin-Williams Waco tractor trailers cover 12.4 million miles delivering paint product to 700 paint stores. This distance would be like circling the earth 498 times, or 52 trips to the moon.
