UPDATE: Arrest made in bakery robbery

KILLEEN, TX - UPDATE: The Killeen Police Department has made an arrest in the robbery at the Sweet Eats Bakery.

Officers responded to 1010 W. Jasper Drive at 7:45 a.m. on Wednesday after receiving a 911 call about the robbery.

Officers were told a man entered the store and brought out a weapon and demanded money from the store employee. The suspect then fled south with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect assaulted the victim during the robbery, who was transported to Temple's Baylor Scott & White Hospital in stable condition.

The suspect is described as an African-American man at approximately 5’9”, and he was last seen wearing a dark shirt and camoflauge pants.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Violent Crimes Unit received information during the investigation about a possible suspect involved in this robbery.

At approximately 10:20 a.m., the suspect was located and taken into custody. He remains in the custody of the Killeen Police Department pending charges.

Killeen police report a 54-year-old employee of a bakery shop was injured when she was attacked by a robber Wednesday morning.

KPD spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez said they were called to the Sweet Eats shop at 1010 West Jasper Road at 7:45 a.m. and were told the man entered the store and demanded the money.

At some point a struggle broke out and the woman was injured.

She was only able to give police the barest descriptions, mostly saying the man was dressed in dark clothing.

The employee was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple with non life threatening injuries.

Police are asking that anyone who might have been in the area and might have seen anything that would be helpful to give them a call or contact Crime Stoppers.
