Waco, TX - Shawn Bell was a record-setting signal caller for the Baylor Bears back in the early 2000's, leaving school with 28 Baylor records.
These days, though, you can find him getting down-and-dirty with the offensive lineman on the north end of the practice field.
Bell transitioned to an assistant coach this season, taking over the offensive line coaching duties from George DeLeon who injured his hip this offseason. DeLeon is there to oversee all that goes on with the lineman but Bell was his hand-picked successor and coach Rhule sees nothing but great things from Coach Bell.
"Shawn is a great coach," Rhule said. "I like to think I'm a pretty decent offensive line coach, and I say I'm going to go down there but Shawn and Josh Cochran have it handled. They're always under George's watchful eye and if George sees anything He can always say something to them after practice, or help guide them but Shawn's a great coach. I think the players have responded and picked up right where they left off."
Rhule feels like the offensive line can be a real strength of this team when everybody is, back, healthy and up to speed.
