Changes Coming to NCAA Redshirt and Transfer Rules

Waco, TX - The NCAA Division One Council put into action some big changes for athletes wanting to transfer or redshirt, on Wednesday.

The council passed a rule that football players can play in up-to four games in a season and still be eligible for a redshirt year. Under this new set of rules Baylor players like K.J. Smith, Chris Platt and Xavier Jones could have all saved a year of eligibility after going down with injuries.

Players can now transfer without restrictions from their institution. Players can now tell their coach that they wish to transfer, the coach then has two days to put their name in a transfer database, at which time other schools can contact that player.
