Elliott Stepping Up as Vocal Leader for the Cowboys

Frisco, TX - Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott wants to take a more vocal leadership role with the Cowboys this season.

Thursday as Dallas closed down mandatory minicamp Elliott said that with vocal leaders like Jason Witten and Dez Bryant gone form the locker room, it's on guys like him to lead.

"One of the things I accomplished is just establishing more leadership skills, That's really what I focused on coming into this year just really becoming, a more vocal leader with the loss of Dez and Wit," he said. "It takes more than just going out there and working hard. You've got to encourage guys, you've got to bring them along, and you've got to encourage them."

The Cowboys now break for 5 weeks before reconvening at Training Camp, in Oxnard, California, in late July.
