Waco, TX - After a second postseason trip in as many years, Baylor Head Baseball Coach, Steve Rodriguez feels like his program is rising fast and feels like a run to Omaha is right around the corner.
"Even this year I thought we had a chance, I really did," he said. "Just by watching the way our guys were playing. how they competed, the way they were executed, the level of execution they were giving us, with the starting pitching and the bullpen. I thought we were really just 1-2 hits away from doing something pretty special, and we just couldn't get the hit."
The Bears fell in the regional against Stanford, but despite the loss, Rodriguez left Palo Alto knowing his program is ready to compete with the best in the country.
"We made a couple mistakes late in the regional, but even after we lost the regional I was like, man we still have a chance to win this thing," he said. "That's just a great sign knowing how much confidence I have in our guys, they have that much confidence in themselves, and going forward I think the future is pretty bright."
Baylor ended the 2018 season with a record of 37-21.
