Waco police say one juvenile was caught after several vehicles were broken into in the area of Hilltop and Fish Pond Road early Monday morning.

Police got a call about a burglary of a motor vehicle in progress at 2:10 a.m. and were told that four or five males had been seen running from the area.

Officers got their quickly enough to spot them and give chase.

During the chase a handgun stolen from one of the vehicles and a large machete were recovered along with several other items.

Though the one juvenile was caught, the others were able to get away.

The one detained was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

Police say that even though multiple burglaries were committed, only one resident wanted to file charges.

Police were somewhat frustrated by this turn of events and said they would like to remind citizens who are victims of crime, that it is important for them to help hold criminals accountable by filing charges.

They also note that firearms should not be left in vehicles, as that presents an extremely dangerous situation for officers and other citizens when these incidents occur.
