The College Station Police Department is investigating two separate cases of assault occurring early Sunday morning.
A large fight broke out at 1:58 a.m. in the 100 block of College Main Street. This fight involved two opposing groups and needed a large police presence to keep under control.
Later that morning, two gunshots were heard by officers coming from the 200 block of Lodge Street. Officers were on the scene in moments, but no one was there and no one appeared to be injured.
More officers arrived, along with assistance from University Police, and the crowds were dispersed from Northgate. Evidence of the gunshots was recovered later, but there were no reported victims in this case.
Another report of shots fired occurred at 3:47 a.m. on University Drive, near SH-6. The caller said a man was shooting a gun from a moving car. At 4:00 a.m., officers were told about a gunshot victim at a local emergency care center. Officers responded to the location and learned the man received a gunshot wound from a bullet being fired into the vehicle he was riding in. The victim was treated and released from the hospital.
At this time, it is believed this is an isolated event between two opposing groups of people. This case remains under investigation, and no other information will be released at this time.
