A two-vehicle crash has five people in the hospital.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers responded to the crash on Friday afternoon at the intersection of SH-31 and FM-939, east of Axtell.

An investigation determined a Chevrolet SUV traveling southbound on FM-939 ignored the stop sign and was struck by a Ford passenger car traveling eastbound on SH-31.

The driver of the Ford, along with the driver and two passengers of the Chevrolet, were transported to Baylor Scott and White Waco to be treated for a possible injury.

The fourth passenger of the Chevrolet, an eight-year-old girl, was transported by air to Baylor Scott and White Waco in critical condition.

The investigation is ongoing, and charges are possible.
