A College Station city worker is injured in a vehicle accident.

College Station Police emergency personnel dispatched to the 11600 block of Wellborn Road for a reported major crash.

When officers arrived, they found a gray passenger car struck the back of a City of College Station garbage truck and injured the driver of the garbage truck.

While traveling northbound on Wellborn Road, the driver of the city vehicle stopped in the outside lane to empty a trash receptacle. While doing this, a black mid-sized SUV slowed behind the city vehicle as a precaution.

After the city vehicle stopped in the outside lane and the black mid-sized SUV slowed its speed, the gray passenger car struck the black SUV and then struck the back of the city vehicle.

When the gray passenger car struck the black SUV, it caused the SUV to flip over and land on its roof. After striking the black SUV, the gray passenger car proceeded to strike the city vehicle, and the driver of the city vehicle as well, while he was performing his duties.

The driver of the city vehicle was transported to a local hospital as a result of sustaining incapacitating injuries from the accident.

Wellborn Road northbound, from Navarro Drive to Balcones Drive, was closed for three hours for crash reconstruction.
