A teacher at the Harmony Science Academy charter school in Waco has been suspended following an incident in which some students had scotch tape over their mouths.
A Harmony spokesperson said the third grade teacher never actually touched a student, but had simply told them if they couldn’t keep quiet, they should put scotch tape over their mouths.
While the teacher did not actually put the tape on them, a few put tape on themselves.
A principal at the school overheard a student from the class talking about it in the hall and decided to suspend the teacher.
It was not immediately clear if the suspension would be permanent.
Administrators at Harmony Science Academy issued the following statement:
“While yesterday’s incident involved kids using common scotch tape, we hold our ourselves to a higher standard. After investigating, we have suspended the teacher in question.”
