Killeen’s Heritage Oaks Trail under construction

The City of Killeen is asking the public to refrain from using Heritage Oaks Trail during current construction.

Because the city is building the hike and bike trail in southeast Killeen, they say the path is unsafe for residents.

The construction site has no lighting or safety equipment, and the heavy machinery being used could be dangerous.

The construction is expected to be complete next year.

When finished, the new trail will be over three miles long and connect to the Purser Family Park in Harker Heights.
