Burglar breaks into home, eats food, wears stolen clothes

WEST, Texas - West Police made arrested 31-year-old Ernesto Leon on Thursday for Burglary of a Habitation and Felony of Evading Arrest.

Lt. Richard Milligan received a report in the 600 block of W. Elm Street involving a man who entered a home. The father of the homeowner woke up and found the man on the couch. The man apparently entered the home through an unlocked front door.

The suspect ate food in the home and stole clothes that he was wearing. The father left the house and called his son and determined no one was suppose to be there. He then called the West Police.

McLennan County Sheriff''s Department Deputies were called to assist as the suspect was determined to still be inside the home.

The suspect was seen by a deputy running from the back of the home towards Bush's Chicken. He attempted to hide under the Ice Ice Baby Shaved Ice trailer, where a Deputy had him at gun point. He fled and was caught by McLennan County Deputies and West Officers in the grass median across from Czech Stop. No one was injured during the foot chase and ensuing arrest.

Leon was involved in a disturbance just outside of West on March 21. He fled the scene before deputies arrived. It was determined he was traveling with a woman from Nebraska to the Brownsville, Texas area. He was stranded in the West area after this incident.

Leon has been booked into the McLennan County Jail. McLennan County Deputies assisted West Police on this incident, and were instrumental in the Leon's apprehension.
