Deadly crash in Hamilton County blamed in part on rain

2 people killed in crash

Hamilton - Texas State Troopers say two people are dead after a two vehicle crash near Hamilton on US 281 Saturday morning.

Investigators say a 2015 Honda Civic going south on 281 lost traction and slipped into the northbound lane.

A 2015 Ford Pickup going north hit the passenger side of the Honda, killing its driver and passenger.

The driver was identified as 57 year old Wanda Wehmeyer of Little Elm.  The passenger was 36 year old Jamie Gutierrez of McKinney.

Judge James Lively pronounced them dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, 50 year old Randy McKinney went to Hamilton General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No charges have been filed so far in the crash.

Texas DPS says crashes like this serve as a good reminder to slow down while driving when it is raining.
