The man driving the car hit by a rock on Interstate 35 in Temple needs your help.
Christopher Rodriguez’s girlfriend was killed after a rock pierced the windshield of his car hitting and killing 33-year-old Keila Flores. Now, he wants to find the person responsible and the good Samaritan who helped afterward.
Rodriguez says his girlfriend, Keila had the entire Saturday planned out, making the drive to Austin and spend time with family. Coming back to Waco that same night, he never thought it would be the last time they would spend time together.
“The good times are helping me get through the bad times,” Rodriguez said. “It’s hard.”
Rodriguez was driving back home to Waco on I-35 with Flores and and her three kids when the unexpected happened.
“We were just driving down I-35 and all of a sudden this explosion just comes through the window,” Rodriguez said.
Police say someone threw a large rock from the highway overpass, landing in the passenger seat where Flores was sitting.
“I turn over to my right and I look at Keila and she is just laying there unconsciously,” Rodriguez said. “I am shaking her and shaking her, to try to get her up.”
Rodriguez immediately pulled over and called 911.That’s when a driver stopped to help.
“That meant a lot to me,” Rodriguez said. “It shows that there are good people out there and that there are cruel people out there.”
Now the family is demanding answers and asking for help from the community.
“I just would want to know why,” Rodriguez said. “Why would you want to harm an innocent human being?”
He is still in shock, Rodriguez also hopes to find the stranger who stopped and helped the family during a time in need.
“Whoever that person was that helped me, I just want to thank them in person and tell them thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Rodriguez said.
