Former Milam Co. treasurer pleads guilty to felony charge

MILAM COUNTY, Texas - Former Milam County Treasurer Donna Lanelle Orsag pleads guilty to Tampering with Evidence.

57-year-old Orsag, of Cameron, pled “open” to the 20th Judicial District Court on Tuesday, with sentencing and restitution to be determined after a pre-sentence investigation and a sentencing hearing.

The State is requesting five years of confinement in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, including “shock probation” - where the defendant would spend 180 days in the TDCJ.

A $10,000 fine, court costs and restitution will be determined at the time of the sentencing.

The Court will consider the unindicted theft of $2,500 - $30,000 by a Public Servant in Orsag's sentencing.

The sentencing hearing has been scheduled for May 1 at 9:00 a.m.

Orsag previously resigned from her position last September after being confronted with theft allegations, and was indicted last October.
