Heavy damage, 4 displaced in Temple fire

TEMPLE, TX - Damage has been estimated in excess of $150,000 as a result of fire at a Temple home late Wednesday afternoon.

Trucks were sent to 1206 North 17th St at 5:15 p.m. and found heavy flames and smoke showing from a rear corner of the brick veneer home when they arrived.

Firefighters did enter the burning house to make sure no one was inside.

Flames were spreading to a house next door with fire crews working to limit damage to the exterior trim of the second house.

While the exterior walls were standing,  there was extensive damage to the interior.

The cause of the fire had not been determined as of Thursday morning.

The Red Cross is working to assist the family of four displaced by the fire.
