A 30-year-old Waco man already being held on capital murder charges has now been served with additional charges in connection with an assault of another prisoner.
Keith Spratt is one of two men charged with capital murder in an alleged murder for hire scheme dating back to 2015.
He and Tyler Sherrod Clay were charged with the shooting death of 37-year-old Joshua Ladale Pittman wo was shot and killed at the Pick N Pay Food Mart at 504 Faulkner Lane on December 23, 2015.
Court papers filed by the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office say that while being held in the jail, that on February 11 about 8:33 p.m. Spratt attacked the other prisoner.
An affidavit said that the victim was attempting to protect another inmate who was being assaulted when Spratt entered the fray.
Spray is accused of striking the victim multiple times in the head and torso and kicking him multiple times after he fell to the floor.
The victim indicated he did want to press charges, with paperwork then filed adding the charge of assault causing bodily injury to the others already faced by Spratt.
Spratt now faces those charges along with capital murder, aggravated robbery, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and violation of the conditions of a bond or protective order.
His bond now totals $1,330,000.
