A couple is facing charges after lottery tickets stolen from a store were traced to the suspects in the conspiracy to defraud the Texas Lotto.
Tana Nicole Mullins, age 29, was booked into the McLennan County Jail over the weekend, charged with claiming a lottery prize by fraud, theft, and conspiracy.
Her boyfriend, identified as 29-year-old Matthew Paul Herring, was charged with fraud and conspiracy.
Waco police say the investigation began May 25th when the manager of the Alon convenience store in the 6800 block of Sanger Avenue noticed a large number of tickets from a spool of tickets had been activated by an employee of the store after they had been determined to be ” winners.”
They were then cashed at various locations around town.
The Lotto system allows individual tickets to be tracked and stores cashing the tickets have cameras that record all of their transactions.
