A 30-year-old man is in police custody after an hours-long standoff which put nearby schools on lockdown.
Police were serving Elroy Slaughter a warrant for a parole violation on Thursday afternoon when he barricaded himself inside a home on Chestnut Street.
Police fired off tear gas and eventually swept the house for Slaughter at about 4:00 p.m. They decided Slaughter was no longer in the house and got away.
However, officers who decided to stay behind found Slaughter in the attic of the home about an hour later. He was out on parole after previously serving in jail for burglary.
