WACO, TX - A 66-year-old Waco man was arrested early Friday morning on deadly conduct charges after police say he fired several shots inside an apartment not far from the Baylor University campus.
Police say that the incident had nothing to do with the university, though students were alerted.
Police were called to the LL Sams Loft Apartments off the 200 block of LaSalle Avenue on a reported disturbance at 5:30 a.m. Friday.
When officers got there, they heard several gunshots coming from one of the apartment units.
They immediately locked down the complex and called for the SWAT team.
They were able to obtain the phone number for the occupant of that apartment and made contact with him.
The man, later identified as 66-year-old Don John Crow, Jr. promptly came outside and was taken into custody without further incident.
No one was injured, but there was damage to the apartment with at least one round going outside his apartment and breaking a window in another unit.
Police spokesman Patrick Swanton said there may be some mental health issues at play, but Crow was taken to the McLennan County Jail on a charge of deadly conduct.
Bond had not been set as of Friday afternoon.
