A 60-year-old McLennan County man has been charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon, accused of using a handgun to take back a pickup that was being repossessed.

An arrest affidavit says that a recovery agent had picked up a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup  Tuesday and was in the process of taking the vehicle to his business location.

The truck owner, later identified as Robert Donald Gilmore followed the victim and pulled in front of him forcing him to stop.

Gilmore is accused of getting out of the other vehicle and pointing a semi-automatic firearm at the victim and demanding that his truck be released.

The recovery agent tried to show Gilmore the paperwork for picking the truck up, but the affidavit quotes Gilmore as saying ” put the truck down or I’m going to kill you.”

The victim then put the truck down and Gilmore got in it and left.

Court papers report that another occupant in the truck with Gilmore witnessed the threat on the recovery agent’s life, saying Gilmore told the victim ” you better leave or I’m going to put a bullet in you.”

Deputies say the incident occurred at Heritage and Leroy Parkway.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Gilmore and arrested him Wednesday.
