A man whose car was disabled by the side of the road was struck and killed by a truck tractor as he got out of his car early Tuesday morning in Madison County.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Jimmy Morgan says it was about 2:15 a.m. when the driver of a 1993 Lincoln apparently had some kind of car trouble and pulled off the main lanes of Northbound I-45 about seven miles north of Madisonville.
Investigating troopers say the car was not completely off on the shoulder and as the driver got out of his car, he stepped into the outside main lane into the path of an oncoming 2015 model Kenworth truck tractor and semi trailer.
He was hit and thrown several feet, landing off the roadway.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as 39 year old Haymon Jahi of Houston.
Troopers say there were no lights or emergency flashers operating on the Lincoln at the time of the accident.
