Man shot on N 33rd in Waco

WACO, TX - Waco police have confirmed responding to a shooting Thursday morning.

Emergency services were dispatched to the 800 block of North 33rd Street shortly before 8 a.m.

The victim himself had called police to report he had been shot.

When officers got there they found the man with a gunshot wound under his arm.

He told police he heard a knock on the door and when he answered it, he saw a man he did not know standing there pointing a handgun at him.

The men wrestled for the gun, it went off wounding the victim and his assailant ran off through the neighborhood.

The only description he gave officers was a man about five feet, ten inches tall wearing a grey hoodie.

He told officers he had no clue who the man was or why he would want to harm him.

The victim was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Police searched the neighborhood thoroughly and were unable to find the assailant.
