No injuries or damage at grain explosion

TEMPLE, TX - Temple Fire & Rescue reports no injuries and no damage as the result of a suspected grain dust explosion in a grain storage facility.

Spokesman Thomas Pechal says the call came in at 12:32 p.m. Wednesday of a possible explosion when residents in the general area of Temple around Jupe Feed at 405 South 2nd street reported hearing a loud "boom."

Fire personnel investigating found no fire and said that it was possible that a quantity of grain dust in a silo ignited in some way.

While it did make a loud noise, there appeared to be no damage and all units cleared the scene in a short time.

That location was the scene of a major grain explosion in the late 1970's when it was operated under a different name.
