A City of Waco employee is arrested after injuring an officer during an altercation at a health clinic.

Officers responded to the City of Waco Employee Health Clinic on Tuesday afternoon. A city employee thought to be intoxicated was causing a disturbance at the clinic.

While at Employee Health, the employee became irate and began yelling at the other city employees. The employee, now identified as 27-year-old Ronald Lewis Turner, left the building prior to the officers’ arrival.

An officer located Turner and attempted to arrest him, but Turner physically resisted. During the scuffle, Turner was attempting to take the officer’s gun away from him. The officer was able to retain his weapon and Turner then pulled a knife on the officer.

Other city employees witnessing the altercation assisted our officer by getting the knife away from Turner, who was eventually taken into custody.

The officer sustained injuries and was taken to Baylor Scott & White for treatment. Turner was also taken to the hospital for medical clearance and transported to McLennan County Jail.
