OFFICIALS: Pets should be indoors during Hurricane Harvey

KILEEN, Texas - With thousands of people preparing for Hurricane Harvey, what about the pets?

Often times shelters do not allow animals to be rescued when saving humans from natural disasters.

Now, the Killeen Animal Services is making sure that doesn't happen to your pet.

"We've had Bella in our lives for 10 years so it would be so sad if we lost a loved family member basically," said Joe Rodriguez.
And Bella isn't the only animal that will be indoors during the rainy weekend.
"Our pets that are outside will be locked inside the building with the doors down so they're protected from the weather our cats are inside so we have no problem," said Tucker.
The Killeen Animal Services will remain open Saturday 11- 5 regardless of weather conditions.
