Directorate of Emergency Services fire personnel estimate they have contained over 80 percent of the Fort Hood range fires.

Fire personnel, along with supporting military units, will continue firefighting operations to suppress and contain the fires. Operations for July 26 include air-water drops on hot spots and bulldozer support to cut and widen fire breaks.
Frefighting capabilities included eight helicopters conducting aerial fire suppression since July 17, along with six military bull dozers conducting offensive and defensive operations to suppress and contain the approximately 8,500 acre fire.
The fire poses no immediate risk of leaving the installation boundary, nor does it pose an immediate threat to life or property.
