Police investigate fake Facebook profile

Temple police are investigating a fake Facebook profile that appears to have been used to harass the victim,  saying it could result in felony charges.

Officially the case is listed as an ” online impersonation”.

The victim came into the police department to report that a fake Facebook profile had appeared in the victim’s name.

In the profile, derogatory comments were made toward the place of employment of the victim, causing a loss of his job.

Saying such an action is not taken lightly and is not considered a joke, police say online impersonation is a third degree felony, which can lead to a sentence of not less than two years or more than ten years in state prison and a fine up to $10,000.

The investigation into the case is continuing with an arrest expected.
