WACO, TX - A 19th District Court judge has ordered sentences stacked for man found guilty of two counts of sexual assault of a child.
Final arguments in the punishment phase of the trial were heard Friday morning with Manuel Delatorre Perez being sentenced to twenty years in prison and a $10,000 fine on each of the two counts.
Perez is also named in an immigration hold for when he might eventually be released.
The jury found Perez guilty of a reduced charge even though he was originally charged with aggravated sexual assault.
The defense had argued there was no evidence that a weapon was used.
Perez was arrested in November 2016 and had remained in jail up through the time of his trial.
Perez had been accused of coercing an under aged boy into performing sex acts with him after the boy had gone to his home for what he thought was going to be help in filling out a job application.
Prosecutors argued that he had coerced the boy to come back more than once for sexual activity.
