Seton ER doctor hurt in attack, man charged

Local

A Seton Hospital emergency room doctor who was 21 weeks pregnant was injured Sunday morning when she was kicked and punched by a patient who has now been charged in the attack.

Harker Heights police say that Matthew James Taylor had been brought to the hospital by Fort Hood police for evaluation after he had been arrested on post for public intoxication and assault family violence.

While in the emergency room and while being evaluated by a doctor, he is accused of punching the doctor in the face with a closed fist and kicking her in the face and chest area.

Police report he kicked pushed the doctor into other medical equipment in the room, causing an injury to the back of her head.

Taylor was initially held in custody on Fort Hood,  with an arrest warrant obtained for the hospital attack.

He has since been booked into the Bell County Jail with bond set at $100,000 on a charge of assault on emergency medical services personnel.
