Smoking store clerk robbed, register emptied

TEMPLE, TX - Temple police report that a Cefco store clerk taking a smoke break was robbed and her cash register cleaned out by a hand gun wielding bandit Tuesday night.

Police were called to the Cefco location at 3805 South 31st Street and found the victim who said she had gone outside to smoke a cigarette when she was approached by a man who pointed a silver hangun at her, took her cell phone and pushed her back in the store.

Once inside, he took the money out of the cash register, then fled on foot going in a southerly direction.

Police used a K-9 and did pick up the beginnings of a track, but lost it in the Canyon Creek Town Home area.

Surveillance video was not immediately available because the store manager was having trouble downloading it.

The robber was described as being five foot six to five foot eight inches tall, medium build, last seen wearing a black hooded sweat shirt, white t-shirt and dark pants.
