LAMPASAS, TX - Lampasas police report ATF and the Fort Hood Explosive Ordinance Disposal team assisted in dealing with a suspicious device found in a Lampasas home Wednesday.
Officers were called to 805 West 1st Street at 5:52 p.m. Wednesday by a construction worker who was doing cleanup work in a house that had been damaged in a fire back on October 12.
As he worked, he found what was described as a suspicious object in the debris that he felt resembled a homemade explosive device of some kind.
Police and fire both responded, blocked the street and notified close neighbors.
Fort Hood EOD and ATF were notified and came to help secure the scene.
Later that evening, EOD and ATF determined that the device was a combination of commercially available fireworks put together into one device.
It was safely removed with the investigation continuing as to whether its intent was malicious or for entertainment.
Previous tenants of the rent property were being contacted as part of the investigtion.
