Teen charged with shooting up house, cars


An 18-year-old Harker Heights man remains in the Bell County Jail under $80,000 bond after being arrested following an investigation into  a drive by shooting in Killeen.

Kenneth Derek Kimbrel was charged with a third degree felony of deadly conduct, discharge of firearm in connection sith a January 30 incident.

Killeen police department spokesperson Ofelia Miramontez says officers were called to the area of West Elms Road and Hitchock Drive  just before noon January 30 on a report of shots being fired.

They tracked down the actual location to the 2600 block of Marta Drive where a home and several vehicles had received damage from gunshots.

As the investigation unfolded, officers were able to identify Kimbrel as a suspect, obtained a warrant and this week took him into custody.
