The Temple Independent School District has named Dr. Bobby Ott as their new superintendent.
Ott’s main goals include more leadership and school marketing. Temple ISD is growing, and he wants to be able to accommodate the students and the community’s needs.
Excitement and appreciation fills the air as the Temple school board and community members chose their new superintendent.
“I’m overwhelmed, I’m humbled, honored, it’s a fantastic opportunity,” Ott says.
“We went through a process, through a national level search, and had outstanding candidates that came forward. And we were very pleased that Bobby was selected. He’s an outstanding candidate,” says Temple ISD Board President Steve Wright.
Ott has more than 20 years of educational experience. For the past six years, he has served as the assistant superintendent in Temple. Prior to this, he worked for both Copperas Cove and Killeen ISD as deputy superintendent for seven years.
“This is probably the most diverse community I’ve ever worked in. We have such a continuum both economically, ethnically….I mean, everything,” Ott says.
He also says he’s looking forward to the new school year, including plans to help expand Temple ISD school campuses.
“This is a school district that’s definitely going places, and we’re on the cusp of a lot of innovative things,” Ott says.
Ott also wants to address community concerns regarding school safety. He says, “We are looking at training setting up for next year. They know my heart, and they know where I’m at with respect to TISD, and I am here for the long haul.”
