AXTELL, TX - The Department of Public Safety reports two people were killed when their car was struck in the side and rolled several times at 3:00 a.m. Saturday near Axtell in eastern McLennan County.
DPS spokesman Ryan Howard said Monday that the investigation into the crash is ongoing and charges are possible.
Howard said that the victims, 55-year-old Belinda Sanabria and 50-year-old Matias Sanabria Medoza both of San Antonio, were occupants of a Hyundai passenger car going east on State Highway 31 when a GMC SUV traveling south on FM 2311 entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign, striking the Hyundai in the side.
The occupants of the Hyundai were pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the GMC suffered what were described as incapacitating injuries and was taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest in Waco.
The driver of the GMC was also treated for a possible injury.
